Coercive Control Criminalised in Queensland as Major Step Against Domestic Violence

Coercive control to become a criminal offence in Queensland, with a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison. Coercive control includes emotional, psychological, or economic abuse, as well as cyberstalking, isolation, intimidation and sexual coercion. The Women’s Legal Service of Queensland called it a ‘significant milestone’ for human rights and affirmative consent.
